Sometimes in the course of archive searching and file downloading, you will encounter a file too large for you to transfer in just a single 1 hour session at CCN. However, using the ZModem Resume Transfer Option, this can be achieved with relative ease. The first step is set your computer's communications protocol to ZModem - Automatic Transfer/Download/Upload. This will ensure that transfer will begin as soon as CCN's requirements are met and will save you time later on. There will be another option for ZModem Resume. This is sometimes called 'ZModem: Crash Recovery - Upload & Download'. Make sure this box is checked off as well. The second step is to find the file on the archive you want, whether it resides on a computer out on the Internet or on CCN's Public Download Area. Once you locate the exact file, install a temporary link to it in your bookmarks file. Press 'a' for add and 'l' for link. The reason for doing this will be explained later. Next, lock onto the file you want to transfer and press 'd' for download and '3' for ZModem. Because of the automatic feature of ZModem, transfer should begin as soon as you accept the filename or enter one of your own design and press return to accept. Let the transfer continue until you are bumped off CCN through the automatic logoff. Wait at least two minutes and redial into CCN once more. Press 'v' to view your bookmarks, find your archive site (this is why we did this earlier - a time saving idea to get you back to your file in a hurry), and get the file again. Press 'd' to download the file again. You will have to wait for CCN to retrieve the file first, which can be time-consuming, depending on the traffic encountered on the Internet. When the file is ready for transfer once again, repeat the download procedure to bring the file down to your home computer. The system will prompt you for a filename. NOTE: It is **absolutely important** that you accept the identical filename for this to work! ZModem will recognize that this file was partly downloaded and will pick up where it left off, allowing you to continue transferring the file but saving you the time used the first time around. Repeat this step as many times as necessary to receive the large file.
