CCN functions through a system of temporary files; constantly creating temp files for each and every function that is done. When it is busy, temp files get created faster than the filing system can clear them out to complete the action necessary in each case. The system responds with a '/var/sys full' message and a 'file write failed' resulting in a dead.letter or dead.article appearing in your files directory. The temp file system gets backed up to the point where it needs to clear out some backlog before it can handle anything else. So it puts out the various messages; if and when you get these messages, you should try a little later. During the wee hours of the morning when CCN is not very busy, the file system catches up to all of the temp files and by morning is ready to take on any task with an empty buffer. If there is a lot of local activity, the temp files fill up quickly. It doesn't mean your parking lot is full; it just means there's a backlog of cars at the toll booth. Think of it as rush hour traffic; you can't escape it on CCN either. To resend a dead.letter, simply compose a new letter heading and use ^r (Control key + r) to read the dead.letter into your email; using the name 'dead.letter' as the filename. The same for 'dead.article' when reposting to the newsgroups, except that you use the name 'dead.article' instead.
