There are 2 ways to download Email: #1 Singularly: Enter PINE by typing 'gmail'. Enter the folder of your choosing. Now while viewing the index of email messages, press 'e' for export to files'. It will ask you for a name for each and every piece of mail you want to export. Once you're done, you can delete them and quit mail back to files. Now all of your messages are ascii text files ready for download. Highlight the first file and press 'd' for download to your computer. This is a slow way to do it but you have control over which files you want to go. #2 Batch Download: Go to your files directory by typing 'gfiles. When you get to that directory, enter the mail/ directory. There you will see your mail folders. Highlight whichever ones you want and press 'd' for download. This will take everything in the folder. The disadvantage to this is that the folder is irreparably destroyed afterwards. It no longer is a folder recognized by PINE; it is looked upon as just a file, not accessible by PINE. It will have to be deleted. The solution to this is go through your folders while in PINE, type 's' to save each message to a special folder called download. Put every message you want down; there. Now quit PINE and go into the mail/ directory from your files directory. Look for the folder "download" and sent it to your home computer. Delete the download folder after transfer. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
