A Userhelp volunteer was able to upload and download a file successfully with COMit. The catch to it was that the first two attempts did not work. Usually, with TELIX, you don't need to type in a filename at the CCN prompt when uploading with Zmodem. Just issue a Send command, pick the file, and press F10. TELIX tells CCN what the filename is and all is transmitted OK. This did not work with COMit. The first attempt was tried without typing a filename to CCN. The second attempt was tried with a wildcard selection in COMit with only one matching file. Both of those failed. What DID work was: 1. Before logging on to CCN, copy the file to the default upload directory, C:\COMIT\SEND then log on to CCN. 2. Use the COMit menu key (default = "/") to go to the SEND directory and view the list of files and make sure you have the EXACT filename for the file desired; then exit back to CCN. 3. Pressed "u" for Upload. 4. At the CCN filename prompt, type in the name of the file just as it is stored in the C:\COMIT\SEND DOS directory and press ENTER. 5. Press PageUp to get the COMit upload window, press ENTER to accept the default C:\COMIT\SEND directory, and then type in the filename again in the filename box and press ENTER. The file will then transfer OK. The name will be changed to lower case in the CCN directory but that will be the only change to the file. Also be aware that you might have a buggy version of COMit. It can be downloaded in zipped form from: ftp:/ftp.mecheng.asme.org/pub/COMM/COMIT.ZIP If the date on your copy of COMit is earlier than May 20, 1994, you might try downloading the later one and trying that. PKUNZIP.EXE which you will need to unzip the file is available in the CCN Public Download Area.
