When using CCN with an Apple II, II+, IIe, IIc or IIGS computer, you will run across many files specially encoded for Internet transmission. These files are converted to text, much like PC files are UU-encoded. The Apple II version is called 'BinSCII' (for binary ascii). The 8 bit version, called simply 'BinSCII' and the 16 bit version called 'GSCII+' are both featured in the Apple II PDA area (gpda from the prompt). You will need to download BinSCII (from the Apple II section) to decode GSCII+ prior to using it. GSCII+ is located in the Apple GS section and is a New Desk Accessory (NDA) as opposed to BinSCII which is a BASIC program. (NDAs are installed in the /System/DeskAccs folder on a GS). --------------------------------------------------------------------
